If You Could Only See It…
by Vega on Jun.14, 2009, under Rant
Split my room into two and then got all my desk and design stuff out and bout to move it into another bedroom. Just need to clean it out.
I’m pretty happy to say that I will have much more energy and motivation now. I ((will)) have my own private workspace, getting the new intuous 4 fairly soon, and I got a new gym membership. My portfolio is all printed, I have a few design jobs on the side (which will later be added to the portfolio) and I’m planning out OTM so I can make a book later on.
Speaking of books, I ordered Applegeeks Vol. 1: Freshmen Year from the good ole’ folks over at Applegeeks and I’m waiting on it still. Ordered it a long long time ago. Actually before I lost my job is when I had it all paid for. Can’t wait
I’m sitting down tomorrow and busting out as many comics as possible tmrw. If not the full comic, at least sketches and inks. Just gotta get my computer stuff set up again. Tired of people yelling at me haha.

Not Gonna Lie…
by Vega on Jun.03, 2009, under Rant
I’ve been working so hard on my portfolio lately. Losing my job actually gave me the opportunity to set out and try to find a real design job, so I have been doing my best to get things going. I’m sorry I have missed a few comics, but there will be one for Thursday, definitely. I will hopefully have Vega Studios up tonight with a nice little flash gallery of samples from my portfolio. I’m practicing with illustrator right now, then I will have some image manipulations in there, hopefully some personal illustrations that I drew up in photoshop, and then my photography. My resume will be slightly easier since I have an idea as to how I want that to look. I may have everything included on the studio page. We’ll see.
Coming to a Website Near You!…

Thursday’s comic has been postponed till Monday. This has been a hectic week where I lost my job, money, and some other things. A little stressful haha. It will be posted Monday for sure.
ACEN Final Wrap-Up…
by Vega on May.11, 2009, under Rant
Ok so ACEN is now over. It was a very fun convention and TONS of prints flew from the table. We met some great people, made a few friends, overall it was just fun!
Anybody who is visiting after grabbing a card from us at ACEN, or is stopping by anyway, feel free to say something in the shoutbox on the side here! It’s a good way to chat with us haha. Also, read through the last few blog posts under the blog tab, or click here. It goes over some of the ACEN stuff that happened. Thanks for coming
ACEN Day 2 wrap-up…
by Vega on May.10, 2009, under Rant
OK! So, we get back to the table a little after 9am and are completely set up by 9:30am, giving us 30min to just wander around the convention till the regular congoers get inside. I noticed that almost all of the stuff we had set out before leaving was gone, which made me squeal like the school girls I’ve seen all day. Long story short, we gave out TONS of prints and I got a few signatures and sketches by the fine people of 3 Panel Soul and VG Cats. Here are the sketches by Ian and Scott.
ACEN Going Strong…
by Vega on May.09, 2009, under Rant
So far so good on the ACEN front. We’ve been giving out a lot of cards and prints. Even had one sir ask me for a critique haha. Today I think I’m gonna try and sketch more while going out and doing stuff. I would like to visit a panel or two.
Wooz and I have been having a great time! We even got these adorable little buggers. The cute one on the right is mine and the angry one on the left is Wooz’s. In any case. If you are from ACEN and visiting, hit up the shoutbox next to this rant. I’d love to hear from ya
But again, sucks Houston couldn’t of joined. Too many people are asking where is the writer or if Wooz is the writer lol.
Anime Central…

So here it is, ACEN is well on its way. I’m uber stoked about this. This year I will be promoting my ass off. I will have business cards, a new banner, and possibly 2 different prints to hand out.
It is unfortunate that Houston won’t be able to make it. I was looking forward to hangin with him again. To take his place, Zeig and Tom will be joining me to promote their comic. Last year, Zeig put me up at his table and I had the very good chance to return the favor
So get ready for us, ACEN! I will post 4 blogs this weekend. One right before, two during, and one after, all with pictures to share!
Still Alive

I would probably update more often if I wasn’t always writing HEWJ updates. So I’m going to try that now. I should be writing again in two updates. By then I’ll be moved and set. Hopefully. Also, I think ACEN is out of the picture for me, I just have way too much on my plate currently. Look for me at a different con later this year though.

It Got Me Thinkin…
by Vega on Apr.19, 2009, under Rant
So I took forever on this comic for two reasons. Number one, cause it was my first comic using my tablet, and number two, I didn’t know where to go. I’ve been planning on coloring it and such, makin it pretty. Then when I realized it only had one panel of dialogue and it was meant to be drab…why not do a black and white? Not stopping there I decided to shade it some. So for once, the comic is meant to look like this haha.
Remakes
by houston on Apr.16, 2009, under Rant
A lot of times when a franchise is successful we’re peppered with inconsequential sequels, prequels or spin-offs that totally erase the good of the original film. A lot of people were afraid that this would happen with the recent Batman movie and were pleasantly surprised, since we often get sequels akin to the second and third Matrix movies (though I like them for what they were- cash cows). However sometimes, when something is good, it also has the misfortune (for producers, anyway) of being complete. That means even the money-seeking producers have no way to squeeze the franchise for money or a fanbase, unless they resort to another option, remakes.
Star Wars tried this, remaking it’s original movies and digitally ‘enhancing’ scenes, much to the dismay of the fans of the originals. Resident Evil has remade a game or two, but has received praise for it’s resurrection, if for no other reason than it was a good stall for their next actual sequel. Despite this, I try to stay away from remakes whenever possible, as I already play or watch games and movies to a full 100% the first time, and I’m easily pulled into things I like. Recently, I seem to be getting pulled into remakes despite my outrage against them: Pokemon Platinum, Dragonball Kai, even the new DSi. I’m not really judging the quality here; after all, Dragonball Z is Dragonball Z regardless of spiffy new colors or story direction.
I’m beginning to wonder if there’s any original ideas out there. If not, then there must be a reason why people are absolutely horrible at remaking their own crap, and if so, I need to know that reason for many reasons; most importantly because I’m redoing my comic. I have a certain “buy” though; my comic was never mainstream and the only existing run was only about five pages long. So when the remake is shown at ACEN in a few weeks, it won’t seem entirely like I’m milking my cash cow. Hell, I don’t even get paid for it. Plus, I’m doing two other webcomics entirely, so I’m not fresh out of ideas.
As the time whittles down to ACEN, I’m getting closer to finishing everything. Elepires is FINALLY DONE. NeoMeteor is set to be done by next Tuesday, and today I’m doing character design for the site. Comics should start flowing normally after that, and then I’ll just be the boring artist playing videogames. So much for remaking my own image, lol.
I’ll just be glad when all the technical details are out of the way and i can start full-time comic work.
